In addition, an Egyptian army remained trapped in the pocket of Faluja, due to the failure of a liquidation operation that took place parallel to the Hurvat and within it. The IDF penetrated a few dozen kilometers into Sinai, but backed away under international pressure. When the operation ended, the battles of the War of Independence ended.
